Nine Dragons Chinese Restaurant Aintree Liverpool
Welcome
The name Kowloon is made up of two Chinese words, Gau, meaning NINE, and Lung, meaning DRAGONS. Legend states a dragon possessing good fortune inhabits every mountain in Hong Kong. Dragons descend to the harbour at dawn to bathe and return at dusk to drink. Emperor Ping (Sung Dynasty ruler of Hong Kong eight centuries ago), surveying Kowloon one day counted eight mountain peaks. He was reminded rather quickly that as an emperor, he carried the spirit of a dragon and thus, there were nine dragons inhabiting Kowloon. Kowloon from that day forward has been known as “NINE DRAGONS”.
